Fish Fry 14 Final Report

The last piece of fish has been caught & served and it is now time to fess up and report. Earlier I had announced at a Mass that we were facing a very unique situation; the opportunity to reach a $100K return to the Parish. It would not be easy though. We couldn’t suffer through any snow cancelations, product shortages, equipment breakdowns, or poor attendances. Prayerfully, none of those events occurred and we had a very good year. We had the second highest attendance @ 650 with the highest return ever @ $ 18,031.65. Advertising via magazines, newspaper, flyers, TV was done by Grace Zaveckas, Helen Jahn, and Walt Tuchalski at NO cost to the Parish. Additionally, there is a multitude of people that have to be mentioned that without their help this event would not have been possible.

The Parish Kids, Teacher, and Custodian Joe Hallinan were there every Friday afternoon setting up tables & chairs. Some of the kids stayed on and assisted our seniors with meals & seating. They include William Smith, Caroline Kelly, Alex Staub, William Rupp, Josie Switzer, Grace Willard, Sasha Aviles, Charlie Strauss, Nicholas & Issac Ramirez, Abbie Fleming, Adalena & Adia Assi, Alyssa Harrington, Henry Garcia, Valeria Lepid, Luke Bruck, Genevieve Gonzalez, Chloe Parry, Henry Rupp. One elderly attendee, a non-parishioner, made mention to us on the way out that the Parish should be proud of the way our youth are being raised, that they were a credit to their Parish & School.

Fry prep on Thursdays included Cherie & Paul Colomb, Bonnie Isenberger, and Grace Zaveckas.

Fry Fridays include Grace Zaveckas, Stephanie Lapham, Biff Rosensteel, Karen & Ed Szoke, Andrea Switzer, Therese Prevoznik, Diane Reid, Deb Hartman, Jeanne Blaker, Riley Redding, Linda Adams, Regina Hollar, Tony Redding, Matt Redding, Kaitlin Repp & her beau Mike Flynn, Margaret Myers, Suzanne & Mike Landis, Kay Walters., Frank Tharp, John Lapham. Special thanks to Nicole Redding, former kitchen manager of Delone HS, and Cindy Sampang, present kitchen manager at St Francis, for helping with the introduction of our first ever “Gluten free baked Cod”. For the first time in 14 years, the Cod outsold the Haddock in sales.

The following Ladies of our PCCW & Parish donated the dessert table thereby sparing me from procurement & cost to the Fry; Cherie Colomb, Winnie McMaster, Jeanne Blaker, Regina Hollar, Nancy Newbold, Teri Gelles, Bonnie Isenberger, Lucy Jurcak, Helen DeFayette, Jaime Synnamon, Harriet Glass, Laura Potter, Kay Walters, Katie O’Farrell, Emile McGinnis, Sue Wilson, Rita Tuchalski, Suzanne Landis, Maritza Torres, Connie Trump, Mary Malewicki, Donna Kriger, Joyce Shortz, Marialuise Collins, Pat Thorsen, Irene Borba, Lori Kinser, Lucy Simmons, Joan Fox, Susan Shue, Stephanie Lapham, Kathy Reid, Margaret Myers, Margie Maace, Nancy Six, Celia Cuadrado, Joyce Lawn, Joanne Myers, Deb Hartman, April Land. I earnestly hope I have mentioned every one of you here……

Rita & Walt Tuchalski ran a raffle that added an additional $364 to our net.

“Luis” through DeLiso Pizza supplied 45 pizzas at cost to the Fry. Please remember them through patronage.

Special mention to Bob Omick for keeping the electrical system and equipment up and running.

Donna & Paul Kriger with their expertise sharpened every knife in the kitchen.

Ryan at Feesers Foods provided us with a steady supply of fish & product.

By the numbers; over these last 14 years 14,882 have attended the Fry returning to the Parish $106,717.50. (50c? must be a mistake somewhere) with 5,856lbs of fish being served.

At this point, my age and other issues may preclude a return for another Fry next year. Again, I want to thank everyone for your time, patience, and support.

Respectfully Submitted,

Grace & Ken Zaveckas
