Confirmation
The two went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit
(for as yet the Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus).
Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

The Sacrament of Confirmation, one of the three sacraments of initiation (Baptism and the Eucharist being the other two) binds us more closely to the Church and increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us (CCC, 1285, 1303). In confirmation, we receive the seal of the Holy Spirit, and are charged and empowered to spread and defend the faith as witnesses of Christ (CCC, 1295, 1303). It perfects baptismal grace in us (CCC, 1316).

For Youth:
Sacramental preparation and religious formation are necessary for young people celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation, a sacrament of initiation. A two year preparation period is required in the Diocese of Harrisburg. Confirmation is traditionally celebrated in the eighth grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually celebrated in the spring.
In addition, candidates are required to attend the Confirmation Retreat, and submit necessary projects and paperwork on time. Parents and candidates are expected to attend required meetings held throughout the year.

For Adults:
Confirmation is received after preparation in our RCIA program, the process through which a participant is received into full communion with the Catholic Church.
