The Resurrection Brings a New Spritual Reality of Grace and Mercy | La resurrección trae una nueva realidad espiritual de gracia y misericordia

Dear Families and Friends of St. Francis Xavier Parish,
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”
He is risen, He is risen, indeed! Alleluia, Alleluia! Happy Easter to all, and especially to those who have completed their journey into full communion with the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church!
Hopefully you had a beautifully holy Lenten season that you used well so as to more joyfully experience and proclaim the glory of the Lord on this day of victory over sin and death.
On this particular morning that I write this, we had in our gospel reading Jesus telling the Jews, “Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.” What is “day,” but the breaking of light upon the horizon, by whose light we see all things, we see more clearly the way by which we ought to walk, we see the beautiful dignity of those around us, and we can see God revealing himself to us in his Creation.
Jesus is saying that our spiritual father Abraham, when he received the reward of his faith, saw the beautiful plan of God to redeem humanity through the Christian mysteries of salvation, that the true light would bless the world with new life, divine life transforming human hearts, in this new day, the “Today” of the age of grace. Psalm 95 says, “If Today you hear his voice, harden not your heart.” Jesus said to the good thief, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.”
This isn’t a 24-hour day; it is a new spiritual reality. This new “Day” is this age of grace and mercy, as his death pays the penalty of our sins, and his resurrection gives us new life reconciled with God the Father, a new calling to live the life of grace and self-giving love.
Yes, we celebrate “this day” that God’s plan for the forgiveness of our sins and our reconciliation with God is fulfilled by our Lord Jesus’ death and resurrection. But “this day” is this new reality God has given us. Let us rejoice and be glad, always and everywhere, for it is right and just! Glory to God in the highest! Alleluia!

Estimadas familias y amigos de la parroquia San Francisco Xavier,
“Este es el día que hizo el Señor; regocijémonos y alegrémonos en él”.
¡Ha resucitado, Ha resucitado, verdaderamente! ¡Aleluya, aleluya! ¡Feliz Pascua a todos, y especialmente a aquellos que han completado su camino hacia la plena comunión con la Iglesia Una, Santa, Católica y Apostólica!
Ojalá hayan tenido una hermosa y santa Cuaresma y que hayan aprovechado bien para experimentar y proclamar con más alegría la gloria del Señor en este día de victoria sobre el pecado y la muerte.
En esta mañana en particular en la que escribo esto, teníamos en la lectura del evangelio a Jesús diciéndoles a los judíos: ”Su padre Abraham se regocijó al ver mi día; lo vio y se alegró”. ¿Qué es el “día” sino el resplandor de la luz en el horizonte, mediante cuya luz vemos todas las cosas, vemos más claramente el camino por el que debemos andar, vemos la hermosa dignidad de quienes nos rodean y podemos ver a Dios revelándose a nosotros en su Creación.
Jesús está diciendo que nuestro padre espiritual Abraham, cuando recibió la recompensa de su fe, vio el hermoso plan de Dios para redimir a la humanidad a través de los misterios Cristianos de la salvación, que la luz verdadera bendecirá al mundo con vida nueva, vida divina transformando los corazones del ser humano, en este nuevo día, el “Hoy” de la era de la gracia. El Salmo 95 dice: "Si hoy oyes su voz, no endurezcas tu corazón". Jesús le dijo al buen ladrón: "Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso".
Este no es un día de 24 horas; es una nueva realidad espiritual. Este nuevo “Día” es una era de gracia y misericordia, ya que su muerte paga la pena de nuestros pecados y su resurrección nos da una nueva vida reconciliada con Dios Padre, un nuevo llamado a vivir la vida de gracia y amor abnegado.
Sí, celebramos “este día” en que el plan de Dios para el perdón de nuestros pecados y nuestra reconciliación con Dios se cumple con la muerte y resurrección de nuestro Señor Jesús. Pero “este día” es esta nueva realidad que Dios nos ha dado. ¡Regocijémonos y alegrémonos, siempre y en todas partes, porque es justo y necesario! ¡Gloria a Dios en lo más alto! ¡Aleluya!
