Gettysburg College Catholic Campus Ministry Hosts Rorate Mass

Many Catholic students at Gettysburg College rose early on Friday, December 2 to participate in a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. As they walked into a dark and quiet Christ Chapel, they could see some seats illuminated only by candlelight. At 6:30 am, Fr. Lynch began the celebration of a Rorate Caeli Mass, an Advent tradition in honor of Our Lady. A student choir, assisted by Fr. Lynch, chanted the musical parts of the Mass, and Fr. Lynch celebrated the Liturgy of the Eucharist at the higher altar, ad orientem. This beautiful tradition is a great reminder in Advent of waiting for the Light of the world.
